MAY HAPPENINGS: EVENTS AND NEW ARTISTS

EVENTS

The month of May has been busy with special events and new artists for Sorelle Gallery Fine Art
New Canaan CARES held their Silver Anniversary Kitchen & Home Tour May 18th.  Sorelle had the pleasure of providing art for the Grand Sponsor home and participating in the tour.  We are proud to be a sponsor of this New Canaan tradition - supporting youth leadership, parent education and community programs.  Here are some photos of this special installation:

NEW ARTISTS

DELADIER ALMEIDAa São Paulo native turned Californian, Deladier Almeida experienced what he remembers as an “epiphany” as he eagerly observed, the lay of the land far below him while aboard a jet plane over his native land. “My interest is how to bring a sense of geometric order that serves as a lattice on which I attach these various paint passages and protuberances in the land. So the geometry is largely irrespective of the original scene [as photographed]. But it is where all the painted elements will flesh in.”

ANTONIA TYZ-PEEPLES - a new local artist for Sorelle, Antonia focuses on painting realistic ocean landscapes and water. She studies waves and water surfaces, interpreting their intricate pattern and design.

JOHN EVANS - John Evans paintings depict the open spaces, fields, coastal beaches of Massachusetts and Southern California. His paintings evoke the transformation of actual subject matter, using color and light to drive the change in of representational elements into abstract passages.

CAROLYN EVANS - Originally from New Orleans, Carolyn lives in Massachusetts and paints alongside her artist husband, John Evans. Evans earned her BFA from Boston University in 1970. Evans’ paintings often depict houses with colorful, rich surroundings, as well as geometric shapes
